INTRODUCTION
What is Pentecost Sunday and why do we celebrate this day? We celebrate Pentecost Sunday on June 4th this year. The reason why is it is 50 days after the assentation of Jesus into heaven and the out pouring of the Holy Spirit on the 120 in the upper Room. It is 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus and counting Easter on the 50th day He Ascended into Heaven. It is also for us called the birth of the Church. It is the time that the Church began with the responsibility to for the teaching of the Kingdom of God. It is what we have been called to do as the proclamation in 1Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen Race, a Royal Priesthood, A Holy Nation, A People for God’s own possession so that you may proclaim the excellences of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

SCRIPTURES
1 Peter 2:9; Acts 1:1-14; Acts 2:1-8; Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15-19; Luke 24:1-50;

In many ways the Church of Jesus Christ has departed from the very purpose that she has been called to in these last days. You may ask how? Because the Church has in many ways become a social gathering instead of the real church of which Peter speaks about the Priesthood of believers.

When you read the book of Acts it is the actions of the Church in response to the Call that Jesus gave in Matthew 28:16-20 called the Great Commission, and in Mark 16:15-19 the command is given how and what to do. In Luke 24:1-50 especially verse 49 and behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high. In all of the accounts we now see in the Gospel of John 20:30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which re not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. This is why we believe and follow a savior who gave all that we may have life eternal.

The greatest challenge I believe is found in John 21: 15-25 love is the greatest motivation that we have as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet many still refuse such a great love and grace. Many only want what is temporary this life and its benefits not the real life Jesus has for us.

What does this all mean to us? We must ask ourselves these three questions?

  1. Am I fulfilling the purpose God has for my life?
  2. In the process am I faithful to the Great Commission?
  3. Most of all, am I falling in love with Jesus daily?

These are just a few questions that I thought might be appropriate .
