Introduction:
Jesus said in John 6:63 it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. It is as Jesus is saying that we cannot receive life from just educating ourselves in reading the Word of God without the Spirit of God bringing it to life in us. We only see ourselves in a reflection of who God has made us as James 1:23-24 tells us we are like a man who looks in a mirror and as soon as he walks away forgets what he looks like or what kind of man that he was.

Scriptures:

Message:
The word of God reflects and reveals who we are and who we can become in Christ and outside of Christ. The moment we don’t understand spirit, soul, and body, we are instantly set up for confusion, frustration, and ultimately unbelief especially when you see a verse like this in 2Corinthians 5:17 -18 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

Let me say this, your spirit is changed and completely new in Jesus but the Soul and Flesh have a ways to go. Your spirit now is complete new, mature and perfect.

We talk a lot about understanding spiritual things and many people only want to be spiritual not understanding there is a vital part that is important in this equation that many times is missing and that part is LOVE. Many people seem to think that they understand what love is and what it is about but the one thing that is important to realize is that love is not just a word. Everything that Jesus did was because of Love and compassion.

There are many who look for power and to be better or more spiritual. But in reality most are selfish and self-centered and only want or are looking for attention. When we look for attention from others we are Soulish and self-loving, verses being a servant with a servant’s attitude. We are encouraged by the Apostle Paul in Romans 12:9-13 let love be without hypocrisy, Abhor (or hate) what is evil: cling to what is good.

We must understand that our Spirit (Pneuma) is Born-Again in Christ not our Mind (Soul – Soma-Gr.). That is why the Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 12:1-3 Not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

WE HAVE A THREE- Part nature that god created in us.
Hebrews 4:12 and 1 Thessalonians 5:23

1. Spirit – Romans 8:14-17 we must be led by the Holy Spirit. 1Peter 1:23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. The Holy Spirit changes our “spirit” it is everything else that we need to work on by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2.  Soul – Galatians 4:19-21 Paul is encouraging the Galatians to remember that Christ is formed in you (your spirit) and in verse 20 he was perplexed because they were not living according to the life of Christ (anointing) in them. They were being moved by their emotions and feelings and by what others were telling them how they should live and not according to what Paul had been teaching them so he had to write these letters of encouragement and correction. We see this in Galatians 5:19-21 and 5;22-26.

3. Body – Gr. for body is two words Soma(body) and Sarx (flesh) The physical body does not change but can be greatly affected by the actions of the Soul not following after the Holy Spirit. Physical attacks that can even lead to a believer’s early death through disobedience. We follow after the nature of the flesh instead of walking in the Spirit and the new nature that God has given to us. We many times blame God when things go wrong ultimately it is not the fault of God at all but rests upon us for doing our own desires. Galatians 5:16 walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. Hebrew 12:2 fixing your eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith. Habakkuk 2:1-2.
