Now this morning I am going to need some help from the young people with this message.

First I will need a Moses, Aaron, and Hur. The scripture verse is found in Exodus 17:8-15.

The Amalekites Defeated
8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua,w “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hury went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekiteb army with the sword.  14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Writec this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot outd the name of Amaleke from under heaven.”  15 Moses built an altarf and calledg it The Lord is my Banner.

Now Moses tells Joshua to go and fight against Amalek because they were warring against Israel. During the battle Moses as he stood on the mountain holding his hands up the battle is being won as soon as his hands are lowered Amalek begins to win.

The message we get from this passage is that we cannot do battle alone. Some of us think we can do everything by ourselves. But God never intended for us to be alone. His purpose is to hold up one another’s arms in the midst of the battle with the enemy of our souls.

As we read in this passage Moses got tired and needed Aaron and Hur’s help to stay the battle. Some of you have been fighting a good fight and need an arm to uphold you to pray for you and encourage you, So that you can win the battle raging against you and your family.

Then God tells Moses to “Write this in a book as a memorial and recite it to Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven,” God takes battles seriously that the enemy wars against us and will not forget all that the enemy does against the children of God.

Romans 8:35-39
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?e Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?f 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”  37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerorsh through him who loved us.  38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or destress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written “For your sake we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” But in all these thing we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is our Hope. This is our promise. This is the God we serve and every demon of hell knows it and must bow the name of Jesus because His blood conquered death and gave you and I life if we will trust Him unconditionally. Halelulla !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The battle against the tribe of the Amalekites was won.  But there would be other battles in the future. That is why God made the promise to Moses that one day the Amalekites would no longer exist. The message here is to always be aware of the enemy and to never let your guard down. Stay in faith, prayer and study the word of God and fellowship with believers in Christ.

In 1Peter 5:8-10
8 Be alert and of sober mind.s Your enemy the devil prowls aroundt like a roaring lionu looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.  10 And the God of all grace, who called youy to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong,b firm and steadfast.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him (Jesus), because He cares for you Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of sufferings are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.

When Moses saw that the battle was finished and Israel had won at the Hand of Joshua, Moses built an Alter to the Lord. Moses named the altar “Jehova Nissi” The Lord is my Banner.

What line of thinking do my thoughts take? Do I turn to what God says or to my own fears? Am I simply repeating what God says, or am I learning to truly hear Him and then to respond after I have heard what He says? “For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’ ” .

Hebrews 13:5-6
5 Keep your lives free from the love of moneyq and be content with what you have,r because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”  6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Hebrews 13:8
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
