Audio Message:

Introduction:

Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. If you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Peter 1:5-8

If we do not make this a very part of our lives we will always struggle with our relationship with the Lord and with those around us. We say that we want the fire of God to burn out the things in our lives that hinder us but we sustain the things that hold us back. Ultimately we have no peace in our lives because we are trying to perform rather than become who God intends us to be.

Do all things without murmurings and questionings, that ye may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye are seen as lights in the world. Philippians 2:14-15

BODY OF TEXT: 2 Pet 1:5-8; Phil 2:14-15; James 1:5-6; Pro 1:7; Job 28:28; John 5:19;

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-6 Wisdom does not come just because we are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:7).

Job 28:28  And he said to man,  ‘Behold,  the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom,  and to  turn away from evil is understanding. The Church many times does the opposite of what the Word of God is speaking to us to do and wonder why things don’t work out. How can we be carriers of the flame of God when we are not listening to His (voice).

In John 5:19 Jesus declares, "'Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.'" The mighty power that flowed through Jesus' life to work miracles was a direct result of His communion with God.
If Jesus could do nothing without the Holy Spirit how can we expect to do anything without HIM?

The Lord is not looking for our greatest performance but our greatest obedience to Him and His Word. Hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit is not mental assent or even an emotional high. It is simply listening and obeying as He leads us. It is the time we are willing to spend alone in His presence in prayer that will change us. Here is how we can know if we are effective in our prayer and relationship. It is when the light is shining out to others and as we serve the LORD they are drawn to His light in us and through our obedience we see the power of God manifested in their lives through God using us as His vessels of use.
