Matt 20:25-28; 1 Sam 16:7-23; Matt 5;

Audio Message: No Audio

The word deacon is derived from the Greek word diákonos (διάκονος), which is a standard ancient Greek word meaning "servant", "waiting-man", "minister", or "messenger". What does it mean to be a servant?  A servant is devoted and helpful follower or supporter. There are
numerous ways to of ways to serve God. ... The idea of servanthood is to humble yourself, submit to God, and meet the needs of others. It is not about receiving money or some type of reward. In today’s world many are
looking for position or some type of enumeration for what they do. There is no servant attitude in many places even in the Church. Matthew 20:25-28 Jesus tells His disciples whoever wishes to become great among you shall
be your servant. 27 whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave. 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

BODY OF TEXT: Matt 20:25-28; 1 Sam 16:7-23;

To help us understand how God begins to put scripture together let’s look at the life of David. David lived in Bethlehem (house of bread) Hebrew: בֵּית לֶחֶם‬ Bet Lehem, Hebrew pronunciation: [bet ˈleχem], "House of Bread". Another term is Bet-el-lehem or (house of God, el in hebrew). When we see that the scripture has direct meaning to everything God has intended for us in His guidance and direction for our lives. It is not by chance that David was born in Bethlehem and lived there. David was anointed king in this very place but he did not take the role of a King for many years later. All this time he served his father Jesse and then in the house of King Saul. We can learn from these passages of Scripture what God shows you and I as examples of being and living out our purpose in Christ.
